Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with U.S. Congressman Ted Poe

On February 1, Consul General Gao Yanping met with U.S. Congressman Ted Poe in the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Houston. Consul Wang Peijun and Janet Diaz-Brwon, Chief of Staff for Congressman Ted Poe were present.

Consul General Gao welcomed Congressman Ted Poe to visit the Consulate General of China. She said that a healthy and stable China-U.S. relationship was beneficial to the peoples of China and the United States. Exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as trade, culture, education, science and technology had been increased steadily, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. She hoped Congressman Ted Poe, as a member of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs which has great influence on the U.S. foreign policies, would continue attaching great importance to China-U.S. relations, handling China-related issues properly, and playing a positive role in carrying out the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on jointly developing a positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship.

Congressman Ted Poe said that he had an impressive visit to China in 1992 and was looking forward to visiting China again. He valued U.S.-China relations and was ready to make contributions to the further development of U.S.-China and Texas-China relationship and the friendship between the two peoples.

Consul General Gao also exchanged views with Congressman Ted Poe on issues of common concern.
