Consul General Gao Yanping Holds Chinese New Year Reception for the Families with Children from China

On January 30, 2010, Consul General Gao Yanping held a reception -"The Bridge of Love" at the Consulate General for the American families with children from China. About 400 people attended the reception, including 80 local families with 120 children from China,diplomats of the Chinese Consulate General with their families, Congressman Al Green and representatives of the U.S. adoption organizations. Xinhua News Agency,ABC Channel-13 and other local medias conducted interviews and reports at the reception. 

 

   

 

Consul General Gao said, she was delighted to invite the American families with children from China to celebrate Chinese New Year at the Chinese Consulate General. She expressed her deep appreciation to the American parents who have devoted great love to their adopted Chinese children. These lovely children have not only brought happiness and joy to their families, but also became bridges of friendship between the Chinese and American peoples. She encouraged the children to learn Chinese language, culture and history and serve as friendship ambassadors of China and the United States.

 

   

 

Congressman Al Green said, the adopted Chinese children have received love and care from both American and Chinese peoples, this love and care are beyond borders, races and colors. He spoke highly of the Chinese Consulate General's efforts for promoting mutual understanding and friendship and between the two peoples. Mr. Duaine Priestly and Mr. Jeff Mosley also delivered touching remarks on behalf of the American families. They said, adopting Chinese children have changed their lives and brought great happiness and joy to their families, making them in close connection with China. They planned to take the children back to China from time to time.

 

   

 

The children both from the American families and the Consulate General presented talent shows at the reception, wining a big hand from the audiences. The children also had lots of fun playing games such as bowling, basketball, puzzles, bean-picking with chopsticks, finding their birth places on the map of China.
