On August 14, 2010, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun, as representative of the Chinese side, attended the Ecuadorian National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo in the Shanghai Expo Center together with Ricardo Armando Patino Aroca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of Ecuador, who is here for an official visit. Both sides held a friendly meeting.

Zhang said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Ecuador. China is ready to work with the Ecuadorian side to actively upgrade the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, enrich people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination in international affairs to push forward China-Ecuador friendly cooperative relations.

Patino Aroca expressed admiration for the enormous achievements in China's economic and social development as well as its increasingly important role in international affairs. He said the Ecuadorian side attaches importance to developing ties with China from a strategic perspective and is ready to work with China to continuously deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all areas and lift the ties to a higher level.
